October 2 Fundraiser Featuring Ben Sollee & Friends

The James Baker Hall Foundation is proud to present a night of music and poetry in support of our programs for young writers on October 2 at the historic Broadway Theater in Louisville. The event runs from 7:00-9:00 with doors opening at 6:30. The event will have a cash bar. Tickets for the evening are $35.

We are also proud to present a gallery of photos of the late Wendell Berry as part of the night’s activities. James Baker Hall and Wendell Berry had a lifelong friendship that began as students at the University of Kentucky and continued until Jim’s death in 2009. The Foundation’s archives contain over 5,000 images Jim took of Wendell at Port Royal and we are happy to share some of them the night of the event.

The night will also feature three poets who will be sharing their work. Current Kentucky Poet Laureate Kathleen Driskell, Affrilachian poet Marta Miranda-Straub, and KMAC Poetry Slam creator Lance G. Newman II who always delivers thoughtful and sometimes explosive poetry that can rock the crowd.

Many thanks to the following sponsors who are supporting the event:
