Grant Guidelines

The James Baker Hall Foundation provides grant funding to organizations in the Commonwealth supporting Kentucky writers. We are an operating foundation, we offer grant funding to other organizations and ourselves deliver program services directly. We recognize the value of artistic work, we believe artists should be appropriately compensated when asked to contribute their time as an artist.

Grantees

We are interested in organizations whose mission, goals, and values align with ours. We seek to identify where good work is being done and use targeted grant programs to help those doing it do even more of it. Bookstores or Libraries are likely partners for our grant profile. Our grantees are integrated into our direct James Baker Hall Book Award and Kentucky Writers On The Road (KYOTR) programs, serving as hosts for KYOTR events and providing us access to local authors.

Grantee Profile

Grantee is normally a 501(c)(3) non-profit in support of the arts in Kentucky. Otherwise grantee must show evidence of the ability to execute the program agenda. The requirements of each location and grantee application are unique, we reserve the right to adjust a grantee profile as needed at any time.
