Kentucky Writers on the Road will be pulling into Paducah on October 24 and 25 as we travel the state to introduce our 2024 Book Award winner Wesley Houp. Our stop in Paducah will be the first multi-day event on the tour and will be co-sponsored by West Kentucky Community & Technical College (WKCTC). Our events over the two days will be held at the beautiful Paducah School of Art and Design.

The weekend will consist of an opening reception for the Paducah community on Friday night which will be followed by readings by the creative writing class at WKCTC and Wesley from his book Strung Out Along the Endless Branch. On Saturday morning, Wesley will be holding a poetry workshop, โ€œWhere to Begin? And with What? to give participants a stress-free environment with writing based on prompts as well as the opportunity to connect with other poets. The workshop and readings are free and open to the public. The reception will be by invitation.

โ€œWe are very excited about partnering with the James Baker Hall Foundation on the weekend of events,โ€ states Dean of Arts & Sciences Britton Shurley. โ€œIt will give our students the opportunity to showcase their work and give the school an opportunity to present the community with programming.โ€

If you are in the Western Kentucky region, come see us on Friday for the readings and Saturday for the workshop! If you are interested in attending the workshop, here is the link to register: Writer’s Workshop
